Rollin’ in the Fun: The Best Bowling Alleys in Columbus, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio is a great city for you and your family or friends to try out your bowling skills. Here are our top picks for the best bowling alleys in Columbus.

Ten Pin Alley

While technically in the Columbus suburb of Hilliard, Ten Pin Alley tops our list of the best bowling alleys in Columbus. Not only is it a bowling alley, but it is also a complete entertainment center that offers laser tag, an arcade, and food.

I have been to Ten Pin on several occasions. From work parties to a fun day out with the kids, I always found Ten Pin to cater to all ages. It does get busy at peak times, but at other times you can usually grab a lane or two.

Walk-in bowling is available every day except Monday. You can also make reservations if outside of 48 hours.

For those interested in arcade games, Ten Pin Alley offers over 40 traditional and ticket-less, redemption-style arcade games. Redemption-style arcade games disperse credits onto a card that your children can use to cash in at the store.

Laser tag is another top attraction at Ten Pin Alley. Ten Pin has a 2,000 square foot, two-story laser tag arena which a coral reef theme. Each “mission” lasts about 12-15 minutes and includes a safety briefing and equipment.

Another thing Ten Pin is known for is its parties. Ten Pin is a great place for company outings, birthday parties, or other social events. They serve drinks, lunch, and dinner.

Star Lanes at Polaris

If you find yourself out and about Polaris Fashion Place or looking for a bowling alley that offers more than just bowling, Star Lanes at Polaris is your destination.

Like Ten Pin Alley above, Star Lanes is another fun destination for families, date night, or just among friends.

I have found that you will want to take advantage of the online reservation system. During peak times which are usually Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons and evenings it can be hard to get a lane.

While Star Lanes is primarily a bowling alley, it features hyper bowling, an arcade room with the latest games, XD Dark Ride, which is an interactive 4D theater ride where you compete against your friends and family as you try your skills against zombies, aliens, pirates and more.

Star Lanes also has an immersive virtual reality experience called, Omni Arena. Here you use VR equipment to put YOU in the game. I personally found it fun, but pricey for as short as the games were.

Star Lanes is a great place to hold corporate events, happy hours, and private parties and has an onsite restaurant and bar.

Be sure to try the chicken wings, burgers, draft beers, and handcrafted premium cocktails.

Star Lanes is one of the best bowling alleys in Columbus and a great experience all around, but it can be a little pricey if you do more than bowling.

Overall, this is a family favorite of ours, and we try to go a few times each year. If you want a place to hold kids’ birthday parties, this is a great choice!

Sequoia Pro Bowl

Sequoia Pro Bowl boasts one of the highest Google ratings in Columbus. And it is another one of my personal favorites. Mainly because it is exactly what you think of when you think of a traditional bowling alley. It brings back memories of my youth when my grandmother and grandfather used to take me bowling as a kid.

Sequoia is open seven days a week and offers both open, walk-in bowling and leagues for kids and adults.

If bowling isn’t your cup of tea, Sequoia offers Karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights and indoor Cornhole leagues ad beer pong tournaments inside the sports bar.

If you or your company is looking for a great place to hold a fundraiser, hold a corporate meeting, or want a fun place to hang out with family and friends, Sequoia is one of the best bowling alleys in Columbus.

Columbus Square Bowling Palace

The Columbus Bowling Palace at Columbus Square is one of the best bowling alleys in Columbus. When I graduated high school in the late 80s, the Bowling Palace was one of the places we frequently visited. Open 7 days a week and with 64 lanes you will find it open, spacious, and a great location for birthdays and corporate events.

RollHouse Columbus

RollHouse Columbus is located near the intersection of Georgesville Road and Sullivant avenue on the city’s West side. In addition to bowling, they offer Laser Tag and arcade games. What we liked best about the RollHouse was the atmosphere and clean, well-maintained lanes and the staff was friendly.

Most days you can get walk-in lanes for bowling but on Friday and Saturday evenings, you may want to call ahead to get wait times as it can get quite busy. Reservations are also available and pricing is reasonable. RollHouse also offers bowling leagues so if interested, be sure to call or check their website for more information on dates and times or to sign up.

When there, be sure to try the pizza or chicken and waffles!
