The Best Microbreweries in Columbus, Ohio
Columbus has recently seen an explosion in small-scale breweries producing unique and flavorful types of beers using traditional brewing methods and high-quality ingredients. Today, the Columbus brewery scene is vibrant, consistently growing, and has earned national and international awards the residents of Columbus are rightfully proud of.
Far from being individualistic, the industry is known for being collaborative and supportive. Look at the regularly held events and you will often find many breweries working together and sharing knowledge and resources. We’re also lucky to have the Ohio Craft Brewers Association right here in Columbus to support and advocate for the state’s microbreweries.
This is all relatively new, as it wasn’t until 2012 that breweries could legally sell their beer on-site. The new law created business opportunities for entrepreneurs and helped to fuel the growth of the industry. As the scene keeps growing, so is the list of the best microbreweries in Columbus. Here are some of our favorite ones.
Seventh Son Brewing Company
With fire pits on the dog-friendly patio, a food truck out front, a large seating area, and an indoor rooftop bar, there are many ways to enjoy a beer at Seventh Son Brewing Company, undoubtedly one of the best microbreweries in Columbus. Cat lovers will especially enjoy the resident feline.
The draft beer menu is nice and varied, with classic with anything from hazy IPA and pale ale to coffee stout and imperial stout, as well as fruity hard seltzer and cider. The food is a weekly rotation of dishes from local restaurants, including tacos from Dos Hermanos on Tuesday, wood-fired pizza on Sunday, and burgers several times a week.

Land-Grant Brewing Company landed on this list of best microbreweries in Columbus because, in addition to top-quality beer, it also offers plenty of special touches like the heated, kid and dog-friendly igloos that can sit up to 8 people. The beers are as varied as they are tasty, with anything from clean and crisp, fruity, and juicy, to hoppy, malty, and roasty. Land-Grant Brewing Company does not serve food, but there are usually food carts around, or you can get takeout from one of the many nearby restaurants.
